Tracking Links
Tracking links are the core of InfluTrace. Each one is a short URL that redirects to a page on your store while recording who clicked, from where, and — when an integration is enabled — which orders resulted.
Anatomy of a link
A link looks like this:
influtrace.link/p/abc-123
│ │ └── back-half (the unique slug)
│ └────── path prefix
└───────── domain (default or your custom domain)To attribute clicks and sales to a specific creator, add their username on the end:
influtrace.link/p/abc-123/avaOne link can serve your whole roster — each creator just appends their own username, and reports split the numbers out per creator. The username after the last / is what shows up in the By creator table, and it resolves to an influencer record (created automatically the first time it's seen).
Connect a store first
You can create a link without a store connected, but orders and revenue are only tracked for links with an integration enabled. Connect your store before creating links so you can tick it on right away — see Integrations.
Creating a link
Open Links → Create Link (admins only) and fill in:
- Destination URL — where visitors should land, e.g.
https://yourstore.com/products/summer-collection. InfluTrace fetches the page's title and preview image so you can confirm it's right. - Short link — choose a domain (the default domain or any verified custom domain) and a back-half:
- Click Auto to generate a random, easy-to-read slug, or
- Type your own and watch the live ✓ Available / unavailable check.
- Enable integrations — tick the connected store(s) you want to track orders for.
WARNING
Orders and revenue are recorded only for links with an integration enabled. A link with none still tracks clicks, but will show zero sales.
- Campaign — the campaign this link belongs to (defaults to your Default Campaign).
The page shows a live preview of both the final URL and the per-creator format before you save.
Viewing your links
The Links page lists every link you can see, with at-a-glance columns for clicks, affiliates (distinct creators), and revenue. Click any row to open its full report.
Row actions:
- Report — open the link's analytics (see Reports & Analytics).
- Edit — change the campaign or enabled integrations (admins).
- Delete — remove the link (admins).
Editing a link
Open a link and choose Edit. To keep historical analytics consistent, the destination URL, domain, and back-half can't be changed once a link exists — only its campaign and enabled integrations are editable. If you need a different destination or slug, create a new link.
What gets tracked on a click
For every (human) visit, InfluTrace records the click and derives:
- whether it's a unique visitor,
- country, device, OS, and browser,
- the referrer, and
- the creator from the link, if present.
Bot traffic is filtered out, and no raw IP address is stored. See Tracking Events for the full list.
The link report
Open any link (or its Report action) for a date-ranged report of how it performed. At a glance:
- Total clicks count every recorded visit.
- Unique clicks count distinct visitors — repeat visits from the same person are counted once.
- Orders and Revenue count only orders InfluTrace could attribute to a creator, and only when an integration is enabled on the link.
- A By creator table splits all of the above by the username on the link; visits with no username are grouped under Direct.
For the full breakdown of date ranges and how each figure is derived, see Reports & Analytics.
Tips
- Use the Auto generator for clean, unambiguous slugs (it avoids look-alike characters like
0/Oand1/l). - Give every creator the same link with their username appended, rather than minting a separate link each — it keeps your Links list tidy and your reporting consistent.
- Group related links under a campaign so you can report on a launch as a whole.
